Aloysius, the cat, was my loyal companion from November 1986 to January 2006. I found him in a pet store at the local mall. His beautiful solid white coat and mismatched blue and green eyes melted my heart, and I begged my husband to let me take him home.

It took a lot of begging, and it was well worth it. “Wishy” didn’t seem very smart, but he did prove himself to be cunning. Most days I would come home from work to find one of the drawers open in my bedroom chest.

I knew that I had not gone out for the day and left it open, yet it kept happening over and over. It was always the same drawer – the one where I kept my lingerie. more…
