It was 8 1/2 yrs. ago, a friend of my husband and I had come over for a visit. With her she had this kitten that she was taking care of because it was taken from her mother too soon. She was the cutest little grey calico.
We, my husband and I, already had one 6 month old all black female cat. I sweet talked my husband into letting us take the kitten. Our friend told us what to do with her food and how to train her to use the litter box.
She was so tiny, we kept her in the bathtub with blankets, we were afraid she’d get lost in the house. It took us a quite a few days to come up with her name. I was trying to come up with some cutesy name, but my husband wasn’t having it. more…

My cat’s name is Cricket. He is a small tabby with a lot of energy. How Cricket came to our house is a sad one. My boyfriend’s friend died in a car crash a while back and Cricket was left without a home.
We wanted to get a cat anyways, and we figured that taking him in would have special meaning. A time lapsed between us actually adopting him and his friend’s passing.
He was left outside most of the time and acquired fleas and ear mites. We had to fight the critters pretty hard to get rid of them.
Cricket has seemed a lot happier since he’s not getting bitten all the time. He seems to sleep all day, but gets very hyper active in the evenings and early morning. He’s become our natural alarm clock…one that pounces on your face! more…

I have a black cat named Edgar. He’s about 3 years old now, and we’ve had him for about two years. We found Edgar at a local animal shelter where we get all our cats. He’s a black American shorthair.
We do not know if he is a purebred or not. The animal shelter found him on the streets and rescued him. When we went to the animal shelter, they have a room where they keep all the cats and kittens.
There the kittens and cats are let out of their cages so that people can interact with them. When we entered the room and sat down on the floor, a small black cat came up to me almost instantly. We bonded quickly. more…
